Introduction

Swansea Metropolitan University is located just outside the town centre. Swansea is a lively attractive city by the sea that has a population of 230,000. It is the second city of Wales and the bay upon which it stands provides the city with a beautiful setting. Its roots in education go back over 150 years and it has close links with industry, commerce and the public services which allow SIHE to offer a strongly vocational higher education.

Quality Highlights

The Institute is an approved centre for BTEC Higher National and NVQ programmes. Both Art and Design and Business and Management were rated excellent in the Times University Guide 2005. The Dynevor Centre for Art, Design and Media admitted the first students to its landmark new building in autumn 2005. Swansea Metropolitan University's best known course in Architectural Glass can be found in the faculty of Applied Design and Engineering, which also offers a raft of Automotive degrees.

Courses for International Students

Swansea Metropolitan University offers a wide range of degree and HND programmes in a number of disciplines covering 22 main areas:

Accounting and Finance; Animation; Art and Design; Automotive Portfolio; Built and Natural Environment; Business and Management; Computing; Digital Media; Engineering; English; Glass; Health; Humanities; Industrial Design; Leisure, Tourism and Sports and Recreation Management; Motorsports; Performing Arts; Psychology; Public Services; Theatre, Film and Television Studies; Teacher Education and Transport.

New launched courses include Computer Games Design, Computer Games Development, Psychology and Sociology, Computer Aided Product Design, and Advertising Design.

To benefit from their chosen programme of study, students must have sufficient command of the English language. Evidence may be requested in the form of a qualification in English e.g. GCSE, TOEFL or IELTS.

Students from outside the EU will also be expected to provide satisfactory evidence of: Registration of their entry to the UK and f inancial support for their fees; In certain cases, students will have to provide evidence of the support of their own governments prior to starting the course.
