Wales
Welcomes Chinese School Students This week, a group of Chinese
school students will be arriving in Wales for their first experience of
the UK . The students will visit university institutions in Wales , to help
them decide which institution they would like to study at, when they apply
to study in Wales next year.
The visit
has been organised by the Wales International Consortium (WIC), an organisation
responsible for promoting Wales higher education to international students.
The Chinese students are all enrolled on a WIC-recognised education programme
at the renowned Beijing 80 Middle School in China . The programme enables
the students to develop their English language and study skills and to prepare
for their forthcoming study at a university institution in Wales .
Virginia
West, the Director of the Wales International Consortium said “This is a
rare chance for Chinese students. It is wonderful that students are willing
to come all the way to Wales to visit university institutions and make informed
choices about their future”.
She continued
“This is also an ideal opportunity for university institutions to promote
the quality education on offer in Wales and the exceptional warmth and hospitality
of the culture here”
During
their time in Wales , the students will have the chance to experience a
wide variety of cultural and educational activities, hosted by the university
institutions. The students are expected to benefit from a broader understanding
of education in the UK and learn more about particular subjects and areas
of interest.
