First impressions
Rafik Eshun and Christopher Agyapong Siaw are the new Commonwealth Scholars at Glamorgan Business School, they arrived a month ago, and so far have been impressed, Rafik, 24, says “Coming from Ghana my first impression on arriving in Wales is that it is a beautiful country, very green. The campus is beautiful too and situated amongst green hills. The people here are very friendly as well. I am looking forward to studying here, although the sudden culture change is overwhelming because I’ve never lived outside of Ghana before.”
Rafik is studying the MSc in Forensic Audit and Accounting and is planning on returning home to Ghana after graduation, being more employable as he will have graduated from a UK university with a Masters degree.
Christopher, 22, who is studying the MSc Marketing further adds “We’re both very excited to have won this prestigious scholarship and to be studying at Glamorgan Business School. We’ve already met lots of different people, including the lecturers and non-teaching staff who have been very welcoming and helpful. We have been introduced to a very free academic environment, with students given the freedom to question academic theory and engage in debate.
We’ve also been exposed to one of the most technologically inclined academic environments where almost everything that is done both academic and non-academic is computerized. I think in terms of ICT, University of Glamorgan ranks amongst the best internationally.
