India Student Links Celebrated High Commissioner of India with MBA students from MBA

The High Commissioner of India, Nalin Surie, has made a special visit to the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) in recognition of the strong links the university has developed with his country.

Officially welcomed to UWIC by Professor Antony Chapman, Vice-Chancellor, Mr Surie also had the opportunity to meet more than 100 Indian students most of whom are currently studying for an MBA at the university.

In his address to the students, Mr Surie said: “I encourage you all to work hard in this good university and I’m sure that at the end of your study you will go back to India as productive citizens.”

Some of the students were keen to ensure that the High Commissioner enjoyed a taste of home and Wales by making him and his guests a selection of Indian pakoras, scented tea and Welsh Cakes.

Welcoming Mr Surie to the university, Professor Antony Chapman, UWIC’s Vice-Chancellor said: “It is a great honour to have the High Commissioner in our company. There is a wonderful collaboration of deep friendship that exists between UWIC and India.”

UWIC has students from more than 125 countries, with the biggest cohort coming from India to study for the MBA at UWIC’s Cardiff School of Management.

The Cardiff School of Management, which is set to move into a futuristic new £20m building in September, attracts students from more than 100 countries and has the largest full-time MBA programme in the UK.
