UWIC shortlisted for two national awardsUWIC students

The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) is celebrating more success after being shortlisted for two prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2010.

The university has been nominated for both ‘Outstanding Student Admissions Team’ and the ‘Outstanding International Strategy’ awards, which celebrate excellence in leadership, management, financial and business skills in UK universities.

The Admissions Team’s nomination focused on its use of digital technologies to ensure applicants are kept fully informed throughout the admissions cycle and for its commitment to social inclusion, and fair and transparent processes.

“The awards recognise the very best in higher education in the UK and to be shortlisted is a real honour. We are proud to be recognised for the efforts we put into embracing new initiatives and technologies to ensure we deliver a first-class admissions process for our students,” said Richard Moremon, Director of the Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment department at UWIC.

UWIC’s International Office has also made the shortlist for its work in developing a strategy which focuses on welcoming, supporting and encouraging international students throughout their time in Cardiff.

Commenting further, John Phillips, Dean of International Students, UWIC said: “UWIC is very pleased at being shortlisted for this award in such a competitive market for international students in the UK. Our philosophy has always been to provide a comprehensive and caring support service for our International students, with the aims of ensuring their academic success, a rewarding student experience and developing a good International reputation, as well as positive relationships. This is a well deserved tribute to our skilled and committed staff. “

The Times Higher Education Leadership and Management awards are now in their second year and the winners will be announced at a ceremony which will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London in June.
