Warm Welcome for Chinese Students in Wales Chinese Delegation visit Trinity University College

A group of Chinese school students arrived in Wales for their first experience of the UK as part of a week long visit to the UK.

The visit was organised by Wales International Consortium (WIC), an organisation responsible for promoting Wales higher education to international students. The Chinese students are all enrolled on a WIC-recognised education programme at the renowned Beijing 80 Middle School in China . The programme was launched in 2004 by First Minister Rhodri Morgan at a spectacular ceremony at the school on Beijing. Since 2004 the programme has produced some excellent students who have chosen to study in Wales. The programme enables the students to develop their English language and study skills and to prepare for their forthcoming study at a university institution in Wales . 22 students from the programme applied to study in  Wales in 2009/2010.

The visit included trip to Aberystwyth University, Cardiff University, Swansea University, Trinity University College, University of Glamorgan and University of Wales Newport. The students were also taken to see the sights of Wales including the Millennium Stadium, the National Museum of Wales and Llansteffan Castle.

Kath Adnum from Trinity University College said, "This is a great opportunity for universities to show the students the quality education on offer in Wales as well as the unique cultural experience and lifestyle that they will experience when they choose to study in Wales. They were a lovely group of students and it was a delight to show them around Trinity University College."
