I have to admit, I’d only heard about Wales in passing before I applied to Trinity College. My fascination with the United Kingdom always seemed to veer towards England (mainly London and Nottingham; good old Harry Potter and Robin Hood) or Scotland (who could pass up on some hot tempered clans?) But when the economy crashed, I found myself at a crossroads: I was about to lose my job due to lack of funds and Los Angeles had literally fallen to its knees.

When the Roman dramatist and philosopher Seneca said, “Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind,” I like to believe he was referring to his decision to study abroad. While not likely the case, his words still fit my newfound scenario perfectly.

It was a beautiful summer in late August when I left my home in China and travelled far away to Wales, UK. I have now moved on to another journey, but I will never forget that lovely place - we call it Lampy - where I spent some of the best days of my life. All those memories may be in thepast but without them I would not have got this far and be this successful.

I chose to study in Wales because this is a University with students from all walks of life… and international representation. In Africa, specifically Nigeria which produces one of the highest numbers of graduates in the continent, there is great emphasis on those who graduate from Universities abroad, especially the UK.

I am both a mature student and an international student. I waited until the time was right to continue my education and am incredibly grateful to Lampeter for supplying me with my perfect university.
