Osama Jawad (Pakistan) MBA
My name is Osama Jawad and I come from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. I came to UWIC as an MBA student in September 2005 after completing my BSc Software Engineering from the University of Staffordshire. Since then, I have stayed in Wales and enjoyed myself to the fullest.
During my time in Wales I have undertaken work opportunities that combined well with my studies and have proved valuable in enhancing my profile and future career prospects. I have worked for a number of prestigious UK organisations including Royal Mail, Next, and Golley Slater.
During one placement at the International Space School Education Trust (ISSET), which works in association with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), I worked on their marketing project to encourage young people to find new ways of Space Walking for Astronauts. As part of this role I delivered presentations to various schools in Cardiff, which for me is a big achievement.
Whilst studying at UWIC I have been encouraged to partake in a wide range of additional activities which I have been very proud to be involved in. I have been elected as a student helper and student Ambassador for UWIC, I have also represented the MBA student body at a number of formal events as well as being a member of the Welsh Centre of International Affairs and the United Nations Association Wales. I have also taken the opportunity to engage in other short courses through UWIC’s Summer School and an evening course at Cardiff University.
As a student in UWIC I have made lots of friends in Cardiff and also met people from all over the world due to the multicultural environment in our university and around town. For me, meeting new people is an important part of the student experience so I actively encourage others to do the same. I have been involved in arranging numerous events in order to make new students settle into their new environment and make new friends.
Since completing my MBA, I have been offered jobs in London and other parts of the UK but I have always chosen to stay in Wales as I love it here. Cardiff has been my home away from home for more than two years now and I love the people and the environment, the hills, mountains and beaches around Cardiff, which are all so close. Wales is perfect for a person like me who is out going and loves nature.
