University of Wales Newport
Huina Wang (China) MA Multimedia and Information Design
My name is Huina Wang I am a graphic designer from Shanghai in China.
I studied the MA Design (It was called MA Multimedia and Information Design then.) in the Design department at the University of Wales, Newport between September 2003 and February 2005.
After I graduated from the University of Wales, Newport, I returned to Shanghai and found a job with the Shanghai Tianda Advertising Company.
I found that I had an advantage over other graphic designers in my region because I could apply contemporary methods of design and particularly the western design concepts that learned from my time at the University of Wales, Newport .
I could use these methods in my work naturally. Moreover, my time on the MA helped me to develop an orderly method of working and the confidence to work independently.
A more important thing I think is how the seminars and the projects that I had at University of Wales, Newport taught me that as designers, we should focus on the way in which our clients and collaborators can be included in the process. I found I could communicate with them smoothly and efficiently in a way I could not do before. Finally I learned to work quickly and efficiently and I really learned how to speak English well.
Briefly the academic training at University of Wales, Newport, has not only given me the skill and the thinking for design but has enriched and raised my thinking to a higher level helping me to convey my design ideas to our clients at the Shanghai Tianda Advertising Company more clearly and logically.
